Putting together the 7 tube cluster. A small peice of scrap luan was used to hold the tubing off the table while the tubing is tacked in place.

All 7 tubes welded in place.

Making the parts for the main carry through. The .062" 4130 sheet was cut using the radial saw with an abrasive metal cut-off blade.

Notches are cut into the top and bottom rectangular tubing so they can be bent to the required 3 degree dihederal angle and then welded.

Turtle deck tubing tacked in place.

Positioning landing gear reinforcment for welding.

Cleaned up area under the reinforcment before welding in reinforcment.

Used a piece of scrap angle iron as a guide to drill holes for the landing gear mount bushings.

Used another piece of scrap to keep bushing flush with bottom of reinforcment while welding.

One of the tabs made from 5/8" .035 square tube ripped in half.

Used a magnet to hold the tab in place while tacking in place.

Fuselage tabs welded in.

Setting up to weld in bushings for main carry thru mount bushings.

Aluminum block has groove in it to capture the end of the throttle cable.

Put in this piece of .040 aluminum so that I could have a sealing gasket at the rear of the canopy. The opening ark of the canopy intersects this area of the turtledeck bow.

Rivetted aluminum to turtledeck bow.

Had to move station #0 diaganol over to make room for the AeroVee 9 o'clock starter.

Didn't have to change the rear strap set-up.

Welded in this tab for the fuel shut-off cable.

Put in these tabs on the instrument panel mounts to give more clearance between panel and fuel tank. Also put in anchor nuts for mounting.

Put in this tab to mount the bottom leg of instrument panel that supports the bottom of the fuel gauge tubing.

Mixture control cable tab.

Mounting tab for the fuel shut-off cable. Put a slot in the mount to make it easier to route the cable.

Mounting point for my battery master cut-off switch by bottom left corner of rear seat. Close to where the battery will be mounted.

Installing the turtledeck aluminum.

Trimmed up the front edge to be rivetted to the bow.

Installed 10-32 anchor nuts on all the access panel mounting tabs.

Nice shiney aluminum turtledeck. Almost hate to cover it up.
