Setting up to dill taper pin holes in main spars.

Used a $30 laser level and camera tripod to align spar and fuselage.

Using laser level to level inboard top of spars.

Taper pins in spar. Notice how the bottom one goes in too far. The hole is correctly tapered. The pins are off spec. Bought 4 from GPA. Only one was in spec and GPA didn't have any more that were within spec.

This is how an in spec taper pin should protrude using the #5 taper reamer.

This is how the off spec taper pin protrudes. May hve to make this work. Can't find taper pins that are in spec.

Could put in a spacer to get the 1/16" of pin to protrude.

#5 Taper Reamer borrowed from Dave Wilcox. The red mark on reamer is how far the reamer should go into the main carry thru assembly. A previous user must have put the mark on here.

Used a 1/2" ratchet and socket that fit reamer to cut tapers.

How far reamer protrudes through finished hole.

Used air grinder to open up the hole on the front of the main carry thru in order to get the reamer started easier.

Reamer makes a nice clean hole.
